Italian Minister for Education, University and Research visit to Malta (October 5th, 2016) accompanied by an italian delegation including Prof. Angelo Riccaboni, Chair of the PRIMA Consortium
During the visit Minister Giannini will be holding talks with her Maltese counterpart, the Hon. Evarist Bartolo, Minister for Education and Employment to promote collaboration on matters of common interest at the bilateral and European level. Areas and possibilities to enhance Italian-Maltese scientific relations will be given particular consideration. Discussions will also focus on European research and innovation initiatives in the Euro-Mediterranean region, such as PRIMA and BLUEMED, launched during the Italian Presidency and hopefully to be finalized during the incumbent Maltese Presidency of the EU Council.
Accompanied by the Hon. Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Minister Giannini will visit the Microsoft Innovation Centre at Skyparks and, in the afternoon, she will be meeting with University of Malta new Rector, Professor Alfred Vella.Further meetings with Maltese and Italian professors and lecturers will take place at the Italian Cultural Institute in the evening. The Minister’s delegation includes Prof. Massimo Inguscio, a leading scientist and President of CNR/Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, the largest research institution in Italy, Prof. Fabio Fava, coordinator of the European Programme BLUEMED and Prof. Angelo Riccaboni, Coordinator of the European Programme PRIMA.
