12. CONSEIL NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE, Lebanon (CNRS)

The National Council for Scientific Research-Lebanon (CNRS-L) is a national public institution, which, since its establishment by law in 1962, has been entrusted with the main mission of formulating guidelines for national scientific policies aimed at enhancing the development of the country. As part of its mission, the CNRS secures the promotion, organization and realization of these policies in programmes of action through the Grant Research Programme & Associated Research Units (GRP & ARU), Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship Programmes and International Relations Programmes.  Implemented in one of its four research centers, The National Centers for: 1) Marine Research, 2) Geophysical Research, 3) Remote Sensing & 4) the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission; and in collaboration with other academic, research and development institutions, with the objective of developing scientific research in Lebanon and to direct that research to respond to the needs of the country and to the evolution of science and innovation worldwide.  

4PRIMA role: The CNRS-L is the coordinator of WorkPackage 2 - along with CIEHAM-Bari - building on a wide portfolio of results and relationships generated in pervious and on-going EU Projects towards the “Alignment of Research at National, European and International Level - State of the Art/Baseline”.
